EZEKIEL CHAPTER 28
A message came from the Lord and told Ezekiel to give the prince of Tyre a message from him. He said that the prince boasted he was like a god and wiser than Daniel, but because he thought he was a god, our Lord would bring an enemy army to defile his splendor. This army would have the prince die and then it will be known he was not a god, but merely a man.
God further said that the king of Tyre was full of wisdom and beauty with clothing adorned by all gems. And he was blameless until the day evil was found in him and his great wealth filled him with violence and he sinned. So God banished him and let him burn to ashes.
Then in another message the Lord said to look at the city of Sidon where he would bring judgment against the people by sending a plague and people would be slaughtered within the city walls. And Israel's scornful neighbors would know God was the Sovereign Lord. And the people of Israel would live in their own land, the land he gave Jacob. For the Lord would bring them back from the places they were scattered and they would live and plant their vineyards.
HOW DOES THIS CHAPTER RELATE TO US TODAY? Daniel was an official in Nebuchadnezzar's kingdom and was known for his wisdom which he proclaimed came from God. The king of Tyre on the other hand, thought he was a god.
Here God talks about fulfilling his promise that his people would live in safety, Do you believe that God always fulfills his promises? Do not presume to know how God thinks. He is all powerful and even in our modern times, he can do wonderous things. The birth of his son our Savior Jesus Christ brought us the peace and joy that those of us in modern times cling to. May he bring you the same peace and joy in your everyday life.
Yours in Christ,
Mary
