Jerusalem sins

Ezekiel   Chapter 22

God asked Ezekiel if he was ready to judge the city of murderers. Jerusalem had become the object of mockery throughout the world. Every leader in Israel was bent on murder and inside the wall, people despise God's holy things and violated the Sabbath. They did all kinds of evil things, but now the Lord has spoken and will do what he said.

Then another message came from the Lord which called the people "worthless slag" that remains after the silver is smelted. So he would melt them own in the heat of his fury and gather them together and blow the fire of his anger into them and they would melt like silver in fierce heat.

Then another message came from the Lord and he continued to call the people out for their sins and the priests too who violated his laws. God says he is looking for someone who might rebuild the wall of righteousness and for someone who could stand in the gap in the wall so he wouldn't have to destroy the land. But he had found no one.

BIBLE NOTES SHOW: The wall spoken of is not made of stones, but of faithful people who can resist evil. The wall was in disrepair because no one could lead the people back to God. Feeble attempts to repair it through religious rituals or messages based upon opinion rather than God's will, were worthless whitewash.

HOW DOES THIS CHAPTER RELATE TO US TODAY? The priests in those times were supposed to keep God's worship pure and teach the people right living. But soon the worship of God became commonplace and they ignored the Sabbath too. When doing God's work becomes no more important than a mundane task, we are no longer giving God the reverence he deserves. This happens in our time too. I especially want our world to go back to honoring the Sabbath Day. We need total spiritual reconstruction. Pray it happens soon.

Yours in Christ,
Mary
