A few leaders can't protect from God's wrath

Ezekiel     Chapter 14

Some of the leaders of Israel visited Ezekiel and while they were there, he got a message from the Lord telling him that these men had set up idols in their hearts. So the Lord had Ezekiel tell them that he would punish the people who set up idols in their hearts. And he would do this to capture the minds and hearts of all the people who turned from him to worshp idols.

The Lord asked Ezekiel to relay the message that they needed to stop their loathsome practices. And if a prophet was deceived and gives away a message anyway it was because the Lord himself deceived that prophet. False prophets and hypocrites are evil people who would be punished for their sins.Then the Lord asked Ezekiel to imagine him destroying all the people and along with them would be Noah, Daneila and Job whose righteousness could save them but nobody else. Or suppose in war, the Lord sent wild animals to devastate and kill the people .Noah, Daniel and Job could still not save anyone. And so the Lord tries to tell Ezekiel how there will be survivors when his punishments strike the people. And they will be sent to Babylon as exiles.

HOW DOES THIS CHAPTER RELATE TO US TODAY? The people of Judah thought that the presence of a few good men was like an insurance policy against disaster. But we know better, don't we? Each person is responsible for his or her own relationship with God. How is your relationship with God?

Pray for Carolyn’s brother Ronald who has cancer and who recently underwent major surgery.

Pray for our friend Michelle who was diagnosed with a form of MS.

Pray for Robert Sargent who is quite ill with lung cancer.

Pray for Gary Summers, my friend from church, who has cancer.

Pray too for Charly’s husband Robert who has been undergoing chemo. Pray also for Charly who longs to be 100 percent again and walk without an aid.

Pray for James’s sister Cynthia whose chemo has lost its effect as the cancer grows powerful.

SUPPORT: Pray for our country’s leaders and our military people who die each day for our freedom. Pray for our farmers and those who raise livestock during this terrible drought. Pray for us consumers who will face higher grocery prices and the poor who won’t be able to adjust what little budget they have.
