EZEKIEL CHAPTER 7
The Lord told Ezekiel that the end was upon them and the land was finished. The day of destruction was dawning and the time had come to ring with shouts of anguish, not shouts of joy. Soon God would pour out his fury for all the disgusting behavior of the people.
The trumepets called the Israelite army to mobilize, but no one listed. All who left the city walls would be killed by the enemy. Those inside would die of famine and disease and they would dress in sackcloth and shave their heads in sorrow and remorse.
God would bring the most ruthess of nations to occupy the homes of the Israelites and defile their sanctuaries. The people would receive no more teaching from the priests and no counsel from the leaders.
HOW DOES THIS CHAPTER RELATE TO US TODAY? We must use the violence and destruction of Israel as a lesson that we too will be judged someday. Our love of money leads many people today to commit sins. Money has become an idol for many in today's world and we put way too much emphasis on satisfying our own desires.
Meanwhile, God waits patiently for us to repent. So what we do today will determine our fate when God makes his decisions.
Yours in Christ,
Mary
