BIBLE NOTES SHOW: The ongoing genealogy lists not only names but gives us insights into some of the people. Like Er, it states he was a wicked man, so the Lord killed him.
Achan is the man who kept for himself some of the plunder that was devoted to the Lord for destruction.
Boaz was Ruth's husband and an ancester or both David and Jesus.
David is one of the best known people and he certainly was not perfect, but he exemplified what it means to seek God first in all areas of life. We can all please God in the same way by making God our first consideration in all our desires and plans.
HOW DOES THIS CHAPTER RELATE TO US TODAY? Er was a wicked man. A short sentence in the bible which gives his personality and how he was remembered. Each of us is producing a reputation as we live. How would you like to be remembered? How would God summarize your life? Some people claim that how they live is their own business. But it is not. How we live today will determine how you will be remembered by others and how you will be judged by God. So what we do today - matters!
Yours in Christ,
Mary
