ISAIAH CHAPTER 52
Isaiah tells the people to wake up and clothe themselves in strength, for no more unclean and godless people will be entering the gates of Jerusalem. The Sovereign Lord tells them that long ago his people went to live as residents in Egypt and were oppressed in slavery. Most recently they were oppressed by Syria. But now the people will come to know the power of the Lord and realize it is he who speaks to them.
The Lord says that the feet of those who bring good news that the God of Israel reigns- are beautiful! And the Lord will demonstrate his holy power before the eyes of all nations and the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God. Then God asked the people to purify themselves. They were God's people and had no need to run for their lives in a hurry.
In verses 13 through15, God refers to his beaten and bloodied servant. this servant would startle many nations and even kings would be speechless in his presence.
BIBLE NOTES SHOW:In verses 13-15, the Lord is referring to his son the Messiah, who would be highly exalted because of his sacrifice.
HOW DOES THIS CHAPTER RELATE TO US TODAY? Here in this chapter, God again reveals to us the promise of his son to be our Messiah. It would be along time before this happens, but look through the verses and see how excited God is about the coming of his son. God knew even then that his son would be disfigured , but through his suffering, he would cleanse the nations.
Wouldn't it be great to imagine ourselves living in those times. To see God all fired up with the prediction that his only son would be coming. What a wonderful boost of faith it would be to those of us who already are believers. And those of us who believe, can have the beautiful feet of those who bring the good news of peace and salvation and the fact that the God of Israel reigns. He continues to reign today. Look around you, there are lost souls that need to be told about God's good news. Need to be told and shared with them the news of his redemption, salvation and peace.Be a warrior for God. If ever we need to do this, the time is now!
Yours in Christ,
Mary
