Warnings of immoral sex

The Book of Proverbs Chapter 5

Solomon warns of immoral women and how their lips may be sweet as honey but the result is a bitter poison. Her feet go down to death, her steps lead to the grave. The immoral woman does not care about the path to life. So, he warns, never stray from the word of Solomon. Don't go near the door of the immoral woman because if you d, you will lose your honor and hand over to merciless people everything you have achieved in life. Afterward you will groan in anguish when disease consumes your body.

Drink water from your own well, share you love with your wife. Why spill the water of your springs in public? Reserve it for yourself.
Let your wife be a fountain of blessing for you. Rejoice in the wife of your youth for she is a loving doe. Be captivated by her love and not by an immoral woman.

For the Lord sees clearly what a man does, examines every path he takes. An evil man is held captive by his own sins; they are ropes that catch and hold him. He will die for lack of self control and be lost because of his incredible folly.

BIBLE NOTES SHOW: The best advice is to take a detour from and avoid those who use flattery and smooth talk. The best time to learn the dangers and foolishness of going after forbidden sex is long before the temptation
comes. Prepare for temptation by deciding now how you will act when you face it.

HOW DOES THIS CHAPTER RELATE TO US TODAY? "Drink from your own well" refers to marriage and means for you to enjoy the spouse God has given you. In these times it was considered a crime to have sex with another man's wife. It endangered the health and security of the family.

My how times have changed. I wish the clock could be turned back to these times so that "hooking up" was not allowed. As a culture, humans have strayed so very far from the image of love and affection that God meant.

God in this chapter is encouraging couples to look to each other for lifelong satisfaction and companionship. God designed marriage and only within this covenant relationship can we find real love and fulfillment. He never intended for marriage to become boring. Real happiness comes when we find pleasure in our own spouse.

Yours in Christ,
Mary
