I Chronicles Chapter 16
So the Ark of God was placed in a special tent that David had prepared for it and sacrificial burnt offerings and peace offerings were made before God. Then David blessed the people and gave them a gift of food, a loaf of bread, a date cake and a raisin cake to each person.
Then David appointed the Levites to lead in worship before the Ark. The men he appointed are listed in verses 5 though 6. And David sang a beautiful song of thanksgiving to the Lord. Please read it in verses 8 through 36.
David arranged for Asaph and his fellow Levites to minister regularly before the Ark, doing whatever needed to be done each day. This group included Obed-edom (son of Jeduthun), Hosah and sixty-eight other Levite gatekeepers.
Meanwhile David stationed Zadock the priest and his fellow priests at the Tabernacle of the Lord on the hill of Gibeon. There they ministered each morning and evening and sacrified the appropriate offerings and obeyed everything given in the law of the Lord. David also appointed Heman, Jeduthun and others to give thanks to the Lord and they used their instruments to accompany songs of praise to God.
BIBLE NOTE SHOW: There are four elements of true thanksgiving in the song of praise: 1. remembering what God has done. 2. telling others about it.3. showing God's glory to others and 4. offering gifts of self, time and resources.
HOW DOES THIS CHAPTER RELATE TO US TODAY? You noticed tht Asaph and other Levites ministered each day. You don't have to be a Levite or minister to carry out God's work. Perhaps you have the opportunity to teach or preach or clean, sing, plan, or administer. Do what needs to be done for our Lord and minister each day. Praise the Lord who will guide you to help your fellow man.
Yours in Christ,
Mary
